However, the ground floor of the building, which includes the outdoor space, will be taken over by his son Stephen Andrews, who is relocating his Micklegate-based restaurant Fish & Forest.
The 34-year-old chef founded the Michelin-listed restaurant as a pop-up concept in 2018, opening in Sparks in 2020 and Micklegate the following year.
His stepfather, Sam, and mother, Jan, said: “What Stephen has done and what he is doing now is truly amazing. He is very ambitious.
“We are very proud of him and what he has accomplished.
“He started working in the family business here as a teenager, but it wasn't until he traveled that he discovered his true passion for food.
“1331 will be closed on Sunday May 26th, a public holiday, but there will be a big party with Mixtape (York's DJ group) playing, so everyone will have a great time.
“We intend to continue to run Pig and Potato, but we also intend to take a step back. Our last function was the Saturday night before closing, and our last wedding was in October last year. Our first wedding was at Shed Seven, frontman Rick Witter and his wife Claire.
“We're not doing this because we're suffering, we had a record December, but we're at a stage in our lives where we need a change.
“Although the look and feel of this place will change, we employ 25 staff and all of their jobs will be safe.
“We also still keep in touch with many of our former staff and of course our wonderful regulars.”
The couple says the regular SpeedQuiz will be discontinued, but may be moved to a different location.
Stephen previously spoke to the press about the move, saying: “This move brings new opportunities to grow our team and offer more drinks, allowing people to come join us for unique cocktails, wines and cold pints. ”
