Joss Richardson & Son's new Eden Service Station is located just off the A64 alongside the A169 next to the Eden Camp Modern History Museum.
The company officially opens its new station this week on Thursday, April 3rd, marking the opportunity by naming Ryedale Special Family as its chosen charity partner.
The announcement means that the Eden Service Station team will support the special family of Ridare with a series of fundraising activities and events throughout the year.
These firsts will be held on Saturday, April 12th, with family fun days being held at the service station, celebrating the recent opening. Charity representatives will be present on the day and there will be raffles and collection boxes in the store to launch a fundraising campaign. Meanwhile, the first 100 customers who visit the service station on Family Fun Day will receive a free Goodie bag.
There is also free face painting. Prizes containing vouchers for free coffee. And a series of in-store games and competitions offer customers the opportunity to win instant awards. Much more.
Russell Foster, area manager at Jos Richardson & Son, said: “I live in Ryedale and recently hired 16 new members of staff at my local Eden Service Station.
“We couldn’t think of a great reason to name it as a chosen charity partner rather than a special family in Rydal, which does an incredible job in supporting young people with disabilities and families with additional needs throughout Rydal.
Russell added: “We want to see as many locals as possible on a family's fun day. There are many competitions and prizes, and the first fundraising activity for special families in Rydale.”
“We've been working hard to get the most out of our lives,” said Lisa Keenan, Chief Executive of Ryedale Special Family. “We are extremely pleased to be appointed charity partner for Eden Service Station. Working with the local community is extremely important to the Ryedale Special Family, which supports important work with families with children with disabilities.
“We look forward to a family fun day on April 12th to celebrate the opening of our new service station and the beginning of what we hope to become an incredible community partnership between the Eden Service Station and the special family at Rydale.”
Jos Richardson & Son Ltd. has invested £3.5 million in development.
The new fuel station is the BP brand, and the convenience store is the Spur brand. Spur is a wholesale brand of James Hall of Preston, a partner in Joss Richardson & Son's long-term convenience store.
Hot and cold “food” offers include James Hall's Clayton Park Bakery and the cheeky coffee CO brand. A new 150 kilowatt electric vehicle charging bay will be installed as part of the second phase planned for the second half of the year.
“We've been working hard to get the better of our customers,” said Joseph Richardson, managing director of Joss Richardson & Sons. “The site is located right next to the A64, a busy commute route where tourists and daytrippers visit the coast, York and North Moor.
“Another plot on the same site shows a new McDonald's being developed and there is also a planning permission for a drive-thru coffee shop.
“This has been very appealing to us, not only is it making the area an important hub for the Malton and Pickering communities, but it is the people who pass the commute, enjoying work, holidays and day trips.
“We know that increasing cost of living remains a big concern for people, so it was important for us to be able to offer cocky coffee co-branded hot drinks with prices much lower than many other high street coffee brands.
“This means we can offer the bacon roll and coffee meal deal for just £4.50, which represents a great value for money.”
Originally founded in Ghoul, it currently operates 12 sites in East Yorkshire, North, West Yorkshire and West Yorkshire, both in East Yorkshire, Joss Richardson & Son Limited, and has a fifth-generation family business with over 200 people.
The 1.72 acre plot, which is part of the Eden Business Park site, was assigned to the service station by the developer. When Joss Richardson & Son bought it last year, planning permission was already in place.
