Police said a 22-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested in Tadcaster following reports of an attempted break-in to a vehicle and home.
The two were arrested on suspicion of motor vehicle theft and property damage.
A force spokesperson said: “Officers investigating the incident found bloodstains at one of the break-ins and directed them to the Kelver Close area of Tadcaster where they arrested two people.” .
“They remain in custody for questioning.
“We are appealing to residents in the area to check their property and vehicles. If you notice any signs of disturbance or have any information or CCTV footage that could assist our investigation, please contact us. Please contact me.”
