As York drew with Gainsborough in the fourth round of the FA Trophy, one of the big talking points before the match was the appearance of the Howe brothers, with older brother Callum captaining City and younger Declan as Trinity striker.
It made for an interesting dynamic, especially as Declan scored the winning goal in the 60th minute, but Callum was not in the York squad.
This was despite the captain warming up before the match with his teammates and his family being the main sponsors of the match.
“We looked at players in particular Callum Howe, Marvin Armstrong, Ollie Pearce and Joe Felix,” Hinshelwood explained.
“They put in some extra work the other day and Dips (Dipo Akinyemi) did the same in his first game back. We have to be careful because we're on the verge of a quick turnaround.”
“If you go to Rochdale from Saturday to Wednesday, you’ll see that.
“Now with six games in a row, we have to find better form and everyone will be needed.
“We have to perform better than today (Saturday).”
Hinshelwood also responded to rumors of interest in Dipo Akinyemi, with BBC York reporting on Friday evening that the striker was set to move to League Two side Chesterfield.
City co-chairman Matt Ugla responded to the report on social media platform X simply by saying “no.”
Hinshelwood, like he was with Josh Stones, remains mum on speculation and expects Akinyemi to train with Yorke on Monday.
The director said: “Honestly, he's a York City player and in my opinion that's as far as the argument goes.
“He is a York City player today and that is all we are going to say on this matter.
“I've heard a lot of noise, but I'm not on social media so I can't hear anything.
“Dipo, I will be back to training on Monday. That's all I can say about the situation.
“He and Marv had a lot of work to do today, so they didn't come here.
“There's nothing more to add. All we can talk about is what's happening in front of us on the pitch today. That's not good enough for the York City team.”
