Sir Andrew Lawson Tankred, who leads the Aldborough Festival, was appointed as Dr. Ruth Smith's successor at the ceremony at York Crown Court.

In his speech, Dr. Smith said: “It was the most amazing year. I wanted to do as much as I could.”
Sir Andrew said, “I am delighted to take on this role and am very excited to support those involved in judicial administration, including supporting and visiting the judiciary, police, prison services and as many local charities as possible.”
Sir Andrew practiced as a barrister for several years before working as a lawyer in the television industry. In 2003 he moved to his family home in Aldborough, North Yorkshire. Sir Andrew is Ray Canon in the chapter of Ripon Cathedral, who is currently chairing the Northern Aldborough Festival in his 30th year.
