The Audi showroom on Canal Road will close, Sytner, the company that operates the dealership, announced.
Today, a message appeared on the Sytner retailer's web page: “We are closed.”
“We regret to inform you that Bradford Audi has closed its doors.
“Please check the alternative stores below.”
The Telegraph & Argus understands that staff were told to inform them of the closure if they received any new inquiries, and the news was only communicated shortly after lunch.
The showroom itself appeared to be open this afternoon, with lights on and people visible inside the building.
Customers will be informed of where their next nearest outlet is, while skeleton staff are known to be on-site to deal with existing inquiries.
T&A sought answers early last month when rumors of the closure first surfaced.
JCT600, a well-known franchise car dealership based in Bradford, posted on November 8th about its impending closure on its Facebook and LinkedIn page 'ourJCT600', which is described as the company's 'window to the world'.
The post offered condolences and later advertised job opportunities at JCT600.
They say: “We are very sad to hear the recent news regarding the closure of Bradford Audi.
“For those facing redundancies, or those willing to work after these closures, we have a range of positions available across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and the North East, including technician vacancies. We also provide opportunities for after-sales, sales, marketing, customer service, etc. ”
Audi declined to comment at the time, and Sytner went unanswered on Nov. 12.
T&A visited the store on November 21st and spoke to the staff inside.
Audi said it was “operating as usual” and not closed, and that it was supporting the dealership.
He added that this was a “malicious rumor” and “I have not heard of it at all.”
The Audi dealership on Canal Road has been open since 2008.
This follows the closure of Bradford's Mercedes-Benz site on Thornton Road last month.
The showroom has been servicing the city for over 70 years, becoming the first dealer and distributor for all Mercedes vehicles in the North of England and the oldest showroom in the UK.
A man with more than 25 years of experience in the auto industry, who requested anonymity, said: “We lost Citroens, Stanley cars, Mercedes and Audis from Bradford.
“Soon there will be nothing left.”
T&A has contacted Audi and Sytner for comment.
