Yesterday's home game against Accrington fell victim to Storm Bart, with referee Michael Barlow abandoning the game after a 10.30am inspection of the pitch at Valley Parade.
It was also frustrating for the Bantams that they were unable to hold a training session on short notice.
But Alexander thought there might be a bright spot in Pattison and Baldwin, who have just returned to training after a long spell out.
“If you're looking for a positive, that's certainly one,” he said.
“We obviously prepared well for the game, named the team the day before and played all the set pieces.
“Unfortunately we lost out to the weather. But on the other hand, the other players, especially Aden and Pato, will have another week of training before the next game and maybe they will be able to play as well. do not have.
“The injury problem we've had is we're using the same players day in and day out, all game long.
“We made some changes for the (Vatu) Trophy, but it was supposed to be the third game in a week for four or five of them.
“It just takes another week to get their energy levels back to normal and we hope to have one or two guys back on the team.”
Last season, City had major problems on the pitch after the winter weather set in.
Extensive remediation work was carried out over the summer to avoid similar problems.
Alexander added:
“Even if we could have held the game, the forecast was pretty dire and things were only going to get worse.
“There were some games last year that probably left our pitch in a state of irreparable damage and we don't want that to happen again.

“I hope I can take care of her for as long as possible.
“Everyone was ready to play, but it's just one of those things that happens sometimes.”
Antoni Sarcevic is also set to return to training after a long period of absence.
“Salce got his injection on Thursday so he won't be able to train until Tuesday, but he should be able to train with us then,” Alexander said.
“That's the next step of challenging him and seeing how he responds to training and going from there.
“Once he gets on the field on Tuesday, we'll take it step by step. But he's very happy with himself and feels very strong, so he's not far behind the other two. There is no doubt about it.”
City dropped to 10th place with no appearances. Next weekend's FA Cup opponents Morecambe climbed out of the bottom of the table with a 3-2 win over fellow strugglers Swindon.
