The Hetton Angel near Skipton, known as the “Absolute Jewel,” won the title of the best place to stay north and northeast by the Times and Sunday Times.
Meanwhile, Whitby's Saltmoor, with its “magnificent” beach nearby, has won the UK's “Best Beach Hotel” title.
Introducing a highly anticipated list, The Times wrote:
“It's always difficult to cut down on our long list, but this year the standards were so high that it was even more difficult to choose the final 100.
“Whatever the room rates, excellence in design, facilities and money is always an important consideration, but this year, two other key criteria stood out: food and service.”
The Times and the Sunday Times let you see the best places to keep your guide online.
What did the Times say about Hetton's Angels?
The publisher stated: “This 15th-century accommodation near Skipton gives it as traditional time warp look as it does the cozy cottages around it.
“Like Michelin starred dishes, the decoration skillfully blends influences from Dale in Scandinavian, Japan and Yorkshire, with ancient beams and stone walls decorated with sophisticated concrete floors and moss-covered artwork.”

Hetton Angels currently have a 4.5/5 rating on TripAdvisor from 254 reviews. One visitor praises the “start to finish” and “absolutely great” visit.
The Times added: Dinner was perfect and unforgettable, and even the humble bread course has been promoted to art form.
“The 16 smooth rooms are just as sweet as the sensational desserts of Wignoll.
“Overall, it's hard to imagine a more victory combination of grander environments, luxurious accommodations, special infringement meals than this place: spectacular hospitality.
“With Wignoll and his wife Johanna, we'll remain focused on lasers on finding the little touches that make a big difference, and that's an absolute gem.”
Why is Saltmoore the best beach hotel in the UK?
The publisher revealed: “When Montana Brown applied for Love Island contestant in 2017, she couldn't know that she would ultimately lead to becoming a hotelier in Whitby. But with her fiancé, Mark O'Connor, she transformed the running beach hotel outside of town into a super sexy bolt hole with a magnificent, relatively empty beach that is 10 minutes away.

“The Saltmoore House features 43 chic bedrooms inspired by an impressive coastal setting, with 29 more in the family-friendly beach house on the premises, and Brown now has a spa extension in her vision.
“The couple recruited Tommy Banks, the famous chef of Michelin-starred Black Swan in Old Stead, and oversaw a dining room with local Yorkshire produce in front and center.”
On TripAdvisor, Saltmoore has an impressive 4.5/5 rating from over 4,000 reviews.

Claire Irvin, travel director for the Times and Sunday Times, commented: “The judging process for the Best Place Awards this year has been as strict as ever. Our standards combine with the importance of our readers increasing the value of our travels so that our readers find the right shortlist for their visit.
“This value is subjective. Readers are craving multiple breaks throughout the year and are fortunate to have the time and money to spend on them. However, each trip must be unique and memorable for each individual.
“And it's easier than ever to reach international destinations, and UK hotels are cutting their work to compete at all levels. Fortunately, they're rising to challenges more than ever.”
