North Yorkshire Police said the incident happened at 1.40am on November 21 at Burley Hall in York city centre.
According to the police, two men and one woman were involved in the incident.
A spokesperson said: “The figure was later recovered locally, but was severely damaged. If you recognize the man seen on the CCTV camera, please contact us.”
