Barchester Healthcare hosts the event every year in care homes and hospitals across the country, and the festive feast prepared at Stamford Bridge Beaumont was named the winner in the North East and Scottish categories.
A Barchester spokesperson said: “The residents of Stamford Bridge Beaumont put their heads together, donned their aprons and came up with the most amazing perfectly decorated Christmas cake.
“Their amazing cakes are designed as nutcrackers and consist of delicious ingredients such as traditional Christmas cake, marshmallows and rice crispies for the arms and legs, and sponge cake for the head. The only inedible That part is a hat!”
Emma Smith, general manager of the care home, said: “Our residents had a great time participating in this competition and had a lot of fun.”
“Everyone here loves baking and everyone loves cake, so we were really excited to be a part of it.
“It was truly a collaborative process of refining the recipe and trying out different versions of the design.
“We all loved eating previous versions until we came up with the perfect design.”
