I needed a new chainsaw (Mrs. Scrunch's wonder!). I have a variety of things, but none of them are great. I was about to replace a slightly dangerous little chainsaw that came from a popular online auction site, mainly due to the loss of safety features!
This COBRA CS1024V 24V Li-Ion cordless chainsaw is powered by a 2AH battery and a charger, and comes with a 250mm/10 inch blade.
It requires a slightly minor assembly, as most chainsaws do during delivery. The bar and chain must be installed. This is where you can test one of the toolless chain tensioners, one of the Cobras selling points. The chain guard is removed by hand with the red ring and the bar/chain is returned. Once it's almost tight, you can adjust the tension by turning the black ring backwards and finally tightening the red screws completely. This is great as it saves you from finding a spanner you put somewhere the last time you used it! The chainsaw needs to be adjusted to keep the chains in place. This removes any bad excuses to not do this.
Since the reservoir does not supply chain oil, it will come off after supplying it.
There is the first button to turn it on, then there is a thumb button that presses before the trigger. It has a great chain brake to look at, and it is what you should be in the habits you use on a daily basis, not as an emergency stop if you are careless! Use at least two hands and wear wise shoes, gloves and hat. I will not be in the safety briefing. There are a lot of chainsaw geeks who are far more qualified than me to help with this when needed!
There is a handy power level indicator on top, so you're always welcome as you know it's coffee time.
Light pruning of these coniferous trees and cherry branches has proven to be extremely capable. Next, chock the edges of some rotten fence posts. I'm too tight to throw them away, they can one day make a short fence.
At a slightly worse timing, I had previously chopped a lot of small logs for our store, so there were no nice mountains. But it certainly seems like you can engrave small sections for fire, but I'm sure it's going to inscribe something big inappropriately!
Overall, as a lightweight and convenient option for pruning and fire chopping, I'm very pleased with it.
