The City Council Executive will be asked to approve the city's first regional walking and cycling infrastructure plan at its meeting on Thursday, December 12th.
The plan proposes what a spokesperson describes as an “ambitious strategic network” for different modes of transport. It also sets out the top priorities that are used to put together a funding bid when a funding opportunity arises.
Councilor and transport executive, Kate Ravilious, said: “This plan will make walking, driving and cycling in York safer, more accessible and easier, and will encourage more people to choose this journey. The aim is to better connect routes across the city so that method. ”
The Regional Walking and Cycling Infrastructure Plan aims to complement the recently approved Regional Transport Strategy and its implementation plan.
