Malton-based Cranswick Yorkshire Baker crowned the best crop in the beef and vegetables category of M&S Gastropub Dry Aging Beef Pie.

The current 17th year award celebrates the best pie in the country, from classic British staples to original and unusual creations.
There are 26 categories of competition, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

“We're excited to be a part of the UK's Pie Awards,” said Matthew O'Callaghan, chairman of the Mowbray Pork Pie Association and host of the British Pie Awards.
“Wednesday was an exciting day and I had the opportunity to sample some truly outstanding pie entries.
“Cranswick Yorkshire Baker won in the highly competitive beef and vegetable category with dried, aged beef pie at M&S Gastropub.
“These awards highlight the talent and innovation of pie makers across the UK and we would like to congratulate you on this appropriate victory.”
The British Pie Awards had 169 judges on the panel, and between them there was extensive industry experience.
This year, the judges included Selfridge, M&S, department store Fortnum and Mason representatives, along with food writers and excellent bake-off winners, chefs and pie experts.
