The Scottish band's new album, The Great Western Road, will be released next year and will be showcased at St George's Hall on March 31st.
2025 marks 40 years since Ricky Ross met Dougie Vipond and formed Deacon Blue. The songs on The Great Western Road reflect the band's journey. The new album sees Ricky Ross and Deacon Blue's guitarist and longtime collaborator Gregor Philp return to producing duties since he last produced the band's 2020 album City of Love do.
The show in Bradford is one of five limited-time theater shows in March and April to celebrate the album's release, followed by 15 arena shows across the UK and Ireland.
Ricky says: “I love the idea that a circus that comes to town is a temporary entity, a bit of magic that suddenly appears in the middle of a town or village and then disappears. It's very similar to what you do live. The live experience is so fleeting that once the show is over, people lose all inhibitions and that's it. You have to be there. That's what's magical about it.
“There will be two different shows, but we are planning a show that changes and evolves and brings little surprises from time to time. The theater is more intimate and we do one or two things that we don't do in the arena. They give us a chance to play songs from the new album and songs from other albums that we haven't played before. We have a great night out with our big shows. We tailor our shows to where we play. And our motto is “We want people to have the best night of their lives.” It has to be great every night. ”
