Oakwood Resorts Ltd was summoned to court after ignoring a 10 fixed penalty notice, a York City Council spokesperson said.
Newton-on-derwent East of York's Holiday Center and Village Company did not attend York Magistrates Court when the case was heard and found guilty of missing fly postings.
He was ordered to pay a total of £5,421, consisting of a fine of £2,500, a statutory surcharge of £1,000 and a prosecutor's fee of £1,921.
A council spokesman said “number of posters” were featured on lamp posts and traffic lights in and around York from July to October 2024.
They were A1 size, about 60cm x 84cm.
The company was warned that it had no permission to display the poster, but did not respond.
After that, 10 fixed penalty notifications were sent, but they didn't respond and they didn't make any payments.
“We've been working hard to get the better of our lives,” said Cllr Michael Pavlovic, executive member of the City of York Council's Safeter Community. “It is a crime to advertise on the council's property without permission. There is a risk of obscuring important information, blocking road users' gazes, damaging council property, and diverting council resources.”
The Council's website provides details on how to legally install posters and how to apply for permission. To report FlyPosting, go to www.york.gov.uk/flyposting. ”
