County police say PC Mark McNulty was on mobile patrol in Eastfield on Saturday (March 15th) around 6:30pm.
The vehicle was stopped immediately and furthermore, checks revealed that the vehicle had no insurance contract. The attack was immediately approved and the driver informed that he would be reported for driving the car without insurance and not wearing a seat belt.
PC McNulty said: “Drivers involved in a crash without wearing a seat belt often contribute to statistics of murder or serious injury (KSI) on roads in North Yorkshire. Seat belt misuse is a priority in the power of the North Yorkshire police and is a factor associated with “fatal five” including distracted driving, careless driving, excessive speed, drinks and drug driving.
“It takes a few seconds to wear a seat belt, saving lives and reducing the chances of life-changing injuries. The incident was fined and resulted in a vehicle attack that could point to a driver.
“It's important to make sure you and your vehicle are organized as you drive on the road and to ensure that your vehicle is organized to avoid unnecessary difficulties for those involved in collisions with uninsured drivers.”
