The building in Kirkgate, Shipley, reopened last month as a new town center hub after a £3 million refurbishment.
Built as a school in 1858, the center became a community facility in the 1970s. The year-long refurbishment will make it home to the charity The Hive and Kirkgate Community Center, providing community services and facilities, including plans to tackle social isolation, make family activities and cultural and artistic activities more accessible. On Saturday, December 7th, a lineup of punk bands will perform at the Kirkgate Center in what is being billed as “the venue's biggest ever show.” The event, which runs from 3pm to 11pm, is a collaboration between Bradford promoters Endless Ham and Leeds punk promoters Out of Speight Collective. Renowned for hosting memorable punk shows for over 20 years.
A total of nine bands, including local artists and bands from across the UK, will perform spread across two rooms at the refurbished Shipley venue. There will also be projections, merchandise, craft ale, food sales and a record stall.
Endless Hum have been playing in Bradford since May 2022, while Out of Spite started in 1998.
The Endless Spite Festival line-up includes Bradford band Tiger Island, who will be “peddling their power-pop-loving garage punk rock at venues across West Yorkshire from 2022”. . Driven by huge riffs, pounding drums, and danceable songs, they've been compared to the likes of Sleater-Kinney, the Hot Snakes, and the Murder City Devils.
Also participating is Leeds' long-running band Cowtown, who have been creating “unconventional garage punk” for nearly 20 years. With four albums released on the likes of Gringo Records and Domino Records, as well as earlier releases, Cowtown's back catalog is extensive.

Elsewhere in the line-up is Bradford/Leeds newcomer Seller Messiah. Cardiff band Obey Cobra played Endless Hum's first gig in 2022.
