KPP Architects has designed the Yorkshire property firm's proposed 140-room hotel in Rousier Street, York, with plans now being submitted.
The planning application, led by O'Neill Associates, followed a consultation on the proposed Northern House site at 9 Rousier Street in September. This location is close to very prominent destinations such as Malmaison and Maltings.
Evans Property Group's professional team also includes CBRE, which provided market advice, and Montague Evans, who provided the heritage statement.
All planning documents can be viewed on York City Council's planning portal under reference number 24/02021/FULM.
Northern House is a seven-story private office building built in the 1960s. The proposal is to demolish the eight-story building and replace it with two stories on the south side and three stories on the north side to provide hotel accommodation, a restaurant and other hotel-type facilities.
Bringing Evans' luxury Dakota brand – which so far only exists in Leeds and Manchester in the UK, with renovated offices on site in Newcastle (also designed by KPP) – to York would bring the city to York. will be given the option of another hotel comparable to the Dakota Hotel. The Grand, Jorvik House, Judges Lodging and Clementines.
“Dakota will enhance the city's ability to meet the needs of a discerning tourist market,” said a market assessment submitted with the application.
