Jordan Garrick was confirmed to be training with York by manager Adam Hinshelwood in mid-October as he regains fitness and is looking to potentially sign for City.
However, this move did not materialize as Peterborough United had David Ajiboye. Coach Hinshelwood opted to acquire him on a loan deal instead.
Since leaving City to continue free agency, Garrick has joined Forest Green for Steve Cotterill's second spell at the club.
His first game was in the 2023/24 season, where he made 29 appearances and scored 7 goals in Sky Bet League Two for Forest Green, who would eventually be relegated.
The 26-year-old suffered some injuries during his time at Gloucestershire, but left as a free agent, joining Oldham Athletic on a non-contract basis in 2024.
Garrick has previously played for Swansea City, Swindon Town, Plymouth Argyle and Lincoln City, making over 100 appearances in the Football League.
Commenting on the move, manager Cotterill commented to the club: “I got a call from Jordan about 10 days ago and he asked me if he could come to practice and see if that was a viable option from where he was,” Living said.
“It’s nice to come to train, but the only place they took him last year was on the treatment table, so I don’t know where they’re going to take him.
“He had a bad hamstring injury because we were traveling a lot and I didn’t know where he could really go with me.
“If he was active locally there would be no problem for him to come and we look after someone who wants to stay fit, definitely someone who was at a football club. I would.
“I asked him a little bit what he was doing and I thought he was out and about and needed a break sometimes.
“People need a break in their life. I felt he went between several clubs but the break didn't happen for him.
“Last season, at the end of the season, he played the last seven games for me and played really well, but the geography didn't suit him.
“At that time, the risk of a long-term contract with Jordan was something I didn't want to be involved with.
“It took a lot of courage to call him again and ask if he could come to practice without making any commitments.
“I walked away from there thinking, he's a great young man, I enjoy being with him and I like him, it was like he needed a break.
“Sometimes in life, if you're responsible for giving someone a break, that's really important and I loved that.
“It’s either going to be something that you go out and be inspired by, or it’s going to be something that doesn’t go out.”
