Frasers Group has acquired a 278-acre site at Ansty in a new global Mega-HQ in a £53.5m deal.

The major retailer bought the site from South Yorkshire-based Harworth Group after Rugby Borough Council granted planning permission for the major development last week.

Hurworth originally acquired interest in the site in October 2019 and completed further land acquisitions over the next two years.

Frasers Group, led by Mike Ashley, has submitted plans to move its headquarters from Shirebrook, Derbyshire, in October 2023, consolidating its warehouse operations into a single location.

The 112.9 hectare site, designed by Architects Grimshaw, is known for projects such as the Eden Project, London's Excel Phase II and Lloyds Banking Group's headquarters, and is home to a 'Campus Heart' with office headquarters, concept retail research and development facilities. ” is featured. The proposed group accommodation would include 80 units with shared common rooms to the northwest of the site. In the south, five logistics buildings and offices span more than 252,000 square feet and stretch from west to east.

The development is expected to create 7,680 jobs and generate GVA for the region of £69m upon completion.

Hurworth plans to reinvest the proceeds into infrastructure and development across the 9.6 million sq ft agreed 9.6m sq ft industrial and logistics pipeline.
