After three consecutive away matches, York is returning to home turf for a match against Wealdstone on Saturday (3pm) and is about to gain momentum after a ruthless 4-0 victory over Rochdale on Tuesday night.
It was a perfect response after a 2-1 loss to Braintree Town last Saturday.
Assistant Manager Gary Elfic is still wary of the Wealdstone team currently fighting for safety in the National League. This is just two points above Boston United, the pilgrims' side, which has lost an eighth.
Elfick is hoping to have an open contest in North Yorkshire tomorrow afternoon and hopes to end the disappointing record against the Stones, with City not beating visitors at LNER Community Stadium.
“All these little voodoos have to make them out of the way, and we hope we can change it tomorrow,” Elfik elaborated.
“They are very dangerous opponents. I know they have some indifferent outcomes, but they also had some big outcomes.
“We know they beat Altrincham a few weeks ago, so we know we have to be the best again to win a football match.
“They are fighting for every point right now, so it's a tough opposite to play and they're trying to push us.
“It would be interesting because it's pretty open and it's going to be a good football match.
“We've seen the previous games and they play football from a very attractive brand.
“They like to play, but even when they don't have the ball, they like to put pressure on them.
“I'm hoping for such a game model from them tomorrow. I think they're the same.
“They'll come here and do it the right thing and say, 'What's the point of leaving without anything, we might try all three.”
“These teams at the bottom aren't half of the teams, so it's difficult for the first half of the teams, so that's what I'm totally hoping for.”
York headed into the confident contest after a mid-week heroic at Rochdale, along with Ollie Pierce Brace, paired with composition finishes by Lewis Richardson and Ryan Fallowfield, for three points at the pennine.
Elphick now wants to use the results to generate momentum, acknowledging that it caused an actual “buzz” within the group.
The City Assistant Manager said:
“Hopefully it's something like the reset button we hit and we can get into the playoffs with a bit of momentum.
“There's a buzz in the place. Everyone is chatting, and it seems like a lot of weight is lifted from his shoulders.”
Saturday's match against Wealdstone has been declared “Hinsh Appreciation Day” by some supporters, with city fans showing support for manager Adam Hinshelwood and his staff behind him.
Elfick praised his close ties with Hinshelwood, who swapped Worthing to York last February, saying he was “ready for the Red Cap” to take part in the day of his commitment.
“I'm getting a red cap!” he joked.
“It's great, he deserves it, and for me, he is the best I've worked with.
“We have known each other for a long time, but no one deserves that day better than him.
“He was great and I learned the load from him. Hinch is his own guy and I think everyone has something to do with him. I think he's the guy of people who roll his sleeves and work hard.

“He'll tell you whether you're stupid or whether he'll take it in, he's great to work with.
“The balance is right, there is friendship there, but Hinch has a line that he knows he has to create a piece for him.
“I knew he was back from his days in Brighton, and he was always the same guy. He was always about effort and transplants.
“He has his feet on the ground. I'm the person of people if I like you. That's probably why me and he work so well. He has far more strengths than me when it comes to tactical awareness and how to make the most of his players.
“It's a partnership that works with Cam (Morrison, first-team coach), Tony McMahon, Joe Stead, Ollie (Parker, strength and conditioning coach), Sam Mannings and Lewis (Adam) Kitman.
“This is a great management group we have.”
