Glamping in Yorkshire? Why not! Camping isn't for everyone, especially not me. That's why glamping is the answer! Consider camping without the misery. You can camp without getting wet and cold, or on the other hand, without getting too hot and sweating. Having a place to prepare meals, a place to keep food cold, a toilet or bathroom, and a comfortable place to sleep. winner.
We've been on quite a few glamping vacations over the years, so I wanted to share my first-hand recommendations and experiences with you.
Where should you book your next glamping trip in Yorkshire?
Hobbit House at Camp Catur – Glamping in Yorkshire
Camp Catur in North Yorkshire is a fantastic location with a wide range of glamping options to suit all tastes and budgets. From hobbit houses to stargazing domes. The property is vast and has different areas with different types of accommodation. There is also a central area around the reception where food and drinks are served, children's films are shown and it is a place for socializing. There is a large woodland playground near the pod, as well as plenty of woodland and grassy areas to play and explore. While some glamping options are unique, common areas include toilets, showers, and cooking facilities.
What equipment was included?
We stayed at the Hobbit House for one night. It was small, cozy and quite an adventure for a young boy. I found this option to be very basic and will need to be a little more extravagant next time. There was also outdoor seating and a fire pit. We used it to roast marshmallows, but they actually stayed up so late that we never had the luxury of relaxing with it after they went to bed. So to make them sleep you also go to bed!
What I liked about this site was the service on arrival, getting to the hut was fast, informative, and fun. You park your car in the forest parking lot (at your own risk), then get in a wheelbarrow and push your belongings to the designated hut. The boys loved this element of the trip and the excitement built from there. The facilities were top notch and the forest playground was unreal. We spent many hours there.
If you're glamping in Yorkshire, this is a great site to try out different options and have people around you.
Glamping in Yorkshire on a double-decker bus
The boys still say one of their favorite glamping trips is by bus. Double Decker Dennis is at the Ivy Bank Staycation venue in Kirkby Malzade, near Ripon.
We spent a few nights on the bus exploring the Ripon area further and had a great weekend. There was so much to discover. Includes theme parks, walks, gardens and more. Check out Staycation Days in Ripon for more information.
The double-decker bus was spacious and even had its own hot tub. Read here for the full review – Staycation in a refurbished double-decker bus.
yurtshire
Yurtshah is a great place for a luxurious stay in a yurt. We have two locations located adjacent to each other on the outskirts of Ripon. We stayed on the property at Lake Evestone. There was a secluded yurt that looked like a treehouse.
The yurt was beautiful inside and out. It had everything we needed for a good night's sleep: luxurious furniture, a large and comfortable double bed, futons for the kids, and a small kitchenette. The cherry on top of the cake is a skylight, which not only provides natural light into the yurt, but also helps you wake up slowly in the morning.
The private outdoor deck had a wood-fired hot tub, seating area, wood burner, and private bathroom. The bathroom was fully functional with hot water and a flush toilet!
You could see the trees from the top of the deck, and there was a lake below where you could take a walk in the forest. A lovely private stay perfect for a couples retreat.
deerstone geodome
Our most recent glamping trip was with Deerstone Glamping. This stay on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border was a belter.
The geodome was amazing. With six domes perched on a hillside overlooking the Yorkshire Dales, this felt really special. It was the ultimate luxury glamping stay, with gorgeous interiors, beautiful views, and out-of-this-world options. These included a hot tub, barrel sauna, and a cinema dome where you could book time slots.
What else was included?
Here you'll find everything from small supplies in case you forget your toothbrush, to extra blankets for your bed, fans for when it gets too hot, firewood for your indoor wood burner and outdoor fire pit, camping chairs, and fairy lights. is considered. they had it.
We had kids so we tried the cinema dome and it was great. We watched Sing 2, which two boys actually watched while munching on popcorn. It was very comfortable with large bean bags, cushions and sofas and we had a very relaxing time. After ordering a pizza to-go, it was delivered to our site and we ate while enjoying the view.
The sleeping arrangements were great. It has a mini bunk bed for the kids and a large comfortable double bed for us. The dome had blackout magnetic curtains and we all had a good night's sleep despite the raging storm outside.
It has luxurious common facilities including a shower room, toilet and mini-kitchen. In addition, there is also a dome in the living room, where you can meet other people staying with you and change the view from your own dome. There is also a children's play area on site.
This is a great family run site with great attention to detail.
helicopter glamping
A completely unique experience your child will never forget.
Pinewood Park in Scarborough offers accommodation in three refurbished Sea King helicopters, perfect for the whole family. With space to easily sleep 5 people, this spacious helicopter is a lot of fun.
Many of the original features have been retained, so you can actually sit in the cockpit and press all the buttons to “fly” the helicopter. My son spent hours there!

north shire shepherd's hat
North Shire, on the Yorkshire coast, is a very unusual place with two distinct characteristics. As well as glamping accommodation, we also have magical Harry Potter inspired accommodation.
A few years ago we stayed in a shepherd's hut with friends from the shepherd's hut next door. It was so much fun! As lockdown was being lifted and everything was starting to open up again, it was very special to be able to spend time outdoors with friends again.
The shepherd's huts were each themed around Harry Potter and the Wizarding World and were very charming. They were cozy and slept 3 people in a double bed and 3 in a single bed with a small kitchenette. We cooked on the barbecue and ate outside, so we were lucky that the weather was nice.
This place had a play area for the kids, plenty of space to run around and chase chickens, and we even got to see some farm animals. Ideally located for exploring Saltburn and the North York Moors.
