Nox of York will open on Goodramgate on Saturdays (February 15th) at 10am.
Founders Hannah Heretic, 28, and Oli Brown, 35, hope that the inside store of the former Viking-themed store, Knutti, will become a hub for York's Gothic community.
“We want to be an inclusive and safe space for people in our Gothic community,” Hanna said. “It has an atmosphere and energy.”

“It's exciting to open a store in the perfect city for us,” Oli said. “York has an incredible Gothic community.”
The couple lives in Lefford, Nottinghamshire, but before deciding to “pull the trigger” and open a store in the city, they said they “love York” and “visited a lot.” .

They previously worked full-time in the music industry. Hannah held behind the scenes money and events, while Oli performed with rock band Oli Brown and Dead Collective.
But during the pandemic – when venues around the country were forced to close, jobs began to dry up.
So they began creating jewelry, creating branded black feather and Lunarcs designs, and selling items online.
“We're from the music industry and we didn't have much support during the pandemic, so we had to find something to do. We're very creative people anyway,” Hanna said. I did.
“It's amazing how not making money can encourage you to do what you do,” Oli added.

They described the product as “rock and roll,” “unique elegant,” and “alternative jewelry for a replacement mind.” Unlike the kind that Keith Richards might see wearing.
Hannah and Oli sold jewelry at British and European festivals, including the Download Festival in Leicestershire.
They met other independent traders in doing so, some of whom have products sold at Goodramgate shops.

“We've worked so hard to find people who make their own,” Oli said.
They also plan to use the second floor of the store as a “flavoring creative” space, allowing other businesses to trade on a pop-up basis.
The shop will be the first of the couple
The business attracting massive social media has begun to build excitement ahead of Saturday's opening.
“We went viral in Tiktok on Monday, so I think we'll have quite a lot of support on Saturday,” Hanna said.
