Two churches in East Yorkshire have been awarded funding for repairs after conservation experts labeled them 'at risk'.
St Wildfred's Church, Ottringham and St Martin's Church, Yappham, have been added to the Historic England Danger Register.
Both sites have been awarded grants by the organization for repairs to protect them and get them up and running again.
Officials also confirmed that another heritage site, Kexby Old Bridge, had also been removed from the register due to recent restoration work.
Historic England said both churches needed repairs to their roofs and drainage systems. St. Martin's Church, built in the 13th century, also needs repairs to its windows.
A total of seven sites in Yorkshire have been added to England's risk register as they are at risk of neglect, decline or inappropriate development.
At the same time, six sites were saved and removed from the register.
Across England, there were 4,891 listings on the 2024 Heritage at Risk Register in 2024, 20 more than in 2023.
There are currently 524 listings on the Yorkshire Heritage at Risk Register.
Duncan Wilson, Chief Executive of Historic England, said: “Heritage is hugely important to Yorkshire. It plays a vital role in our society and boosts our local economy.
“This year we have seen partners and communities come together to support the preservation of historic buildings and the places that need them most, to benefit local people across Yorkshire. It is inspiring to see how we can harness the power of our heritage.”
“Together we can protect our places and find new ways to enjoy the heritage our people hold so dear.”
