Adrian Wilson spent 26 years in food manufacturing, becoming four extremely business directors, working on thousands of staff and millions of pounds budgets.
However, last year he invested his savings to launch a new Wilson food hall in Seamer near Scarborough, which opened in November.
Looking back, Adrian described his previous career as a “solid place,” recalls how he collapsed on work due to fatigue, and he frequently left home and the marriage failed.

He said: “This gave me the kick I needed to get out of that world and put my kids first.”
He quit his job, pursued his dreams, and followed his wife's suggestion to use his knowledge to open a premium food hall in the area where he grew up.
A garage on Main Street became available and was subsequently restocked.

“And we achieved that. Customers can enjoy relaxing coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch. They can pull up the bar stool and do their job. Or they can take the kids to ice cream and milkshakes. We're really proud of what we've created – Wilson is unique in the area.”
Adrian sourced the best ingredients from local suppliers, including Forge Valley Roasters for artisanal coffee and independent vineyard wines that can be enjoyed in the glass of the store.

Artisan breads, pastries and cakes are baked daily at our company's Willow Bakery. There are also ice cream sourced from Groovy Moo, an award-winning gelato maker in Malton.
Originally from Scarborough, chef Luke Stevenson used his knowledge of rosette standard diet and Saudi tastes from working on luxurious yachts to transform Wilson's menu.
The day begins at 7:30am with a breakfast sandwich. The bacon and sausages come from the local butcher Turner's of Lilington. Brunch and lunch are served mid-morning until 3pm, with regular dishes such as daily homemade frittata, creamy mushrooms with toasted bluemer and wilted spinach and rosemary, as well as smoothies choices. Lunch and evening bites include everything from homemade soups and vegan chili peppers to tender stewed beef with charcoal grilled shared boards and rice. In addition to this, there is delicious afternoon tea, kids' meals and delivery broths.
Wilson also hosts eclectic mixes of nighttime events, including pottery classes, the immersive murder mystery “whodunnits”, live music nights, tettitting-tar champagne British tastings, and “proper Yorkshire beer” nights with pie and peas.
As summer approaches, the venue will be offering homemade meals to those staying at nearby campsites.

Meanwhile, Adrian has future plans to expand his business by launching a second Wilson.
Adrian added: Whether you catch up with coffee or lunch, taste high quality wine or pick up a board for a deli, we have you covered.
“It didn't take as long as I thought it would be to get out of the rat race and go back to a slightly slower lifestyle. I've seen my sons compete in school sports days and attend my parents' nights. I do my job with my successful business, do what I love, play with my kids. That's what matters.”
