The warning will take effect at 3am on Thursday
Yellow weather warnings were issued on Thursday for parts of North England, including Greater Manchester.
The ICE warning issued by Met Office kicks in at 3am on Thursday, March 13th and remains in place until 9am. Met Office warns that we can expect “winter showers” and icy surfaces to develop.
Temperatures are set to drop near 0c tonight, and will be Thursday morning. In Greater Manchester, temperatures remain at 2c pm from 3am to 8am and increase to 4c by 9am.
This plunge in temperature comes shortly after the UK experienced brilliant spring-like weather over the weekend, with temperatures reaching 18c in parts of the country. This contrasts very closely with this week's weather, as the weather continues to spring.
Areas affected by Met Office Ice warning include the East Midlands, Northeast England, Northwest England and Yorkshire. There are currently no warnings about the cold of Uksa. This is issued when cold can pose a risk to people's health.
Met Office will issue a warning from yellow to amber to red, depending on the severity of the weather to alert people when extreme conditions can cause danger. Warnings can be issued for ice, rain, fog, snow, sleet, or other weather events.
On Thursday, Met Office warned that there will likely be some icy patches on some unprocessed roads, pavements and cycle paths, increasing the likelihood of injuries or accidents.
The weather spring began last week, but the astronomical spring will not begin until March 20th. The UK weather gives us a little time to turn around.
