Dacre, Son & Hartley have acquired Lister Haigh, a longtime North Yorkshire-based country real estate agency.
The Lister Haigh team will join Ilkley's headquarters, Dacre, Son & Hartley, providing agricultural and rural consulting firms, professional planning and development advice, home sales, rental and real estate management.
Lister Hay was founded in 1919 by Oswald Lister and founded the famous business of Yorkshire farm auctioneers and appraisers. John Hayes joined the company in 1990, and Lister Hay was founded in 2002 when James Johnston acquired the business and Katherine Johnston joined John as director. She was followed by Giles Chaplin, who became director in 2011. All three remain in the company, with sales of £500,000 a year.
Founded over 200 years ago, Dacre in Son & Hartley is Yorkshire's largest independent real estate institution, with 18 offices in the north and west Yorkshire. Through its commercial subsidiary of DACRES, based in LEEDS, the company offers a comprehensive portfolio of real estate services, including home sales and rentals, agricultural management, research services, and specialized national health investment advice.

“We're looking forward to seeing you in a lot of trouble,” said Patrick McCutcheon, Housing Director of Duckle, son & Hartley.
“The company has a highly experienced team, including Catherine Johnston and Giles Chaplin. He will play a large part of the future offering as he further strengthens his rural and development services. Importantly, existing clients at Lister Haigh have access to a much broader marketing and knowledge base across the 18 offices, and can be accessed through a wide range of digital and online presences.
“Last year, we launched a new Lettings division after selling our previous portfolio in 2020. ListerHaigh has a significant managed housing rental portfolio in North Yorkshire.
Catherine Johnston of Lister Haigh added: The combined skill set is undoubtedly providing one of the region's most experienced and knowledgeable rural and agricultural practices. This is great news for our clients, our people, and the sector as a whole. ”
