Joss Richardson & Son's new Eden Service Station is located just off the A64 alongside the A169 next to the Eden Camp Modern History Museum.
The 1.72 acre plot, which is part of the Eden Business Park site, was assigned to the service station by the developer. When Joss Richardson & Son bought it last year, planning permission had already been in place.
The new fuel station will be the BP brand, while the convenience store will be the Spur brand.
Spur is a wholesale brand of James Hall of Preston, a partner in Joss Richardson & Son's long-term convenience store.
Hot and cold “food” offerings include James Hall's Clayton Park Bakery and the cheeky coffee CO brand.
The 12 new jobs, combining full-time and part-time roles, will be created through the development of a new service station being built by Leeds-based McFadden Building & Fivil Engineering Ltd.
“We've been working hard to get the better of our customers,” said Joseph Richardson, managing director of Joss Richardson & Sons. “The site is located right next to the A64. It's a busy commuting route that's also popular with tourists and daytrippers visiting the coast, York and North York marshlands. Before you buy, the developers already have the service. They had secured planning permission for the station and drive-thru restaurant.
“Another plot on the same site shows a new McDonald's being developed and there is also a planning permission for a drive-thru coffee shop.
“This was very appealing to us, not only does it make the area an important hub for the Malton and Pickering communities, but it's people who pass the commute, enjoying work, holidays and day trips. .
“We know that increasing cost of living remains a big concern for people, so we've got a cocky coffee co-branded hot drink with prices much lower than many other high street coffee brands. It was important for us to be able to provide.
“This means we can offer a bacon roll and coffee meal deal for just £4.50, which represents a great value for money.”
Meanwhile, the company is investing an additional £3 million in its existing Raleigh Park site in Goole, East Yorkshire.
The company expanded Goole's track stop facility by adding 55 more one-night space and new showers and welfare blocks as part of a project where National Highways was match-funded.
The expansion followed the demolition of the Ghoul's old car showroom site, as well as creating space for the new Starbucks and KFC restaurants that recently opened there.
A new 150kW electric vehicle charging bay will be installed as part of the second phase of work planned later in the year at both the Goule and Malton sites.
Originally founded in Ghoul, it is now headquartered in Brackenholm, near Houden, East Yorkshire, and Joss Richardson & Son Limited operates in East, North and West Yorkshire.
The existing site employs approximately 200 people.
The new Eden Service Station on the Malton Site will be its 12th site when it opens doors to customers in April.
