The plan submitted to York City Council showed that laughter would sit 203 people above ground and on the ground floor of the former Banks Music Room Shop in Lendal.
An application from Giggling Restaurants Ltd, the company behind the plan, said the business would also offer takeaway at staff accommodation on the premises, which proposed.
Following approval of the initial plan in May, it comes after an application to obtain a restaurant license for alcohol sales in June.
The council has also approved an application to put the restaurant chain sign into the building.
It was launched in Brighton in 2002, and currently has 50 restaurants in the UK, with the building going on, with Giggling Squid announced last February.
York Restaurant's latest plan showed that there will be 113 diners on the ground floor and 90 seats on the ground floor.
Staff accommodation with three bedrooms, an ensuite bathroom and a shared kitchen will be set up on the second floor.
Giggling Squid was founded by couples Andy and Pranee Laurillard, and the chain's website says they want to bring Thai food fuss to the UK.
The restaurant features curry, noodles, pad thai, stir-fried meat and seafood, and several vegetarian and rice dishes. The menu also includes sharing platters and cocktails.
The company also has a restaurant in Harrogate and is scheduled to open in Leeds.
The opening date for York Restaurant has not been confirmed yet.
Banks Musicroom was the oldest music store in the UK as of its closing in February 2023.
The business can trace its roots to a shop that opened in Break Street in 1756.
