Legally Blonde: The Musical is a vibrant, high-energy production by York Light Opera Company at York Theatre Royal, bringing 2001 beloved film to life. We've been legally blonde fans for a long time, and it goes without saying that Mr. W is obsessed with Reece Witherspoon (generally in this movie!). The production took place from February 13th to 22nd, and I was lucky enough to be able to attend last night's Press Night.
From the moment Elle Woods jumps onto stage, you're looking for a sight filled with attitude, humor and a very (very!) catchy song.
Elle Woods is at the heart of the production, with Emma Swainston playing Elle's truly excellent and faithful production with her trademark stance, speech nuances and quirky mannerisms. Masu.
In the music of Lawrence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, legally blonde scores are ear bug dreams. Songs like “Omigod You Yours” and “Very Good” are catchy and fun, and perfectly match the tone of the show. The only problem is you never pull them out of your head! After last night's performance, I was back in the car park and heard many people singing “Omigod You Yours”!
Ah, we loved the bruiser, but Rufus stole the show!
Official bit:
