Retailer Lidl confirmed construction is underway at its Monks Cross store in Huntington.

A Lidl spokesperson said the new store will have a 1,516 square metre sales area, a bakery, baby-changing facilities and middle aisles.

As reported in the press, previous plans to destroy the site of the TK Maxx Store filed before the councillor in September 2024, making decisions regarding the application.
TK Maxx has moved to a unit in nearby Monks Cross Shopping Park.

A Lidl spokesperson said: “Outside, there is ample parking space, including seven electric vehicle charging points, but solar panels help power the store.
“This site also benefits from planting trees and soft landscaping to enhance the surroundings.”

Liam Schofield, head of regional property at Lidl GB, said:
“Our dedicated team has worked incredibly hard over the past few years to reach this milestone. We are on track to welcome our customers by the end of 2025. I'm happy to confirm that.”
The drive-thru is set to be built northwest of the planned site.
