14:20 – Work underway to clean up fallen trees from Columbus Gorge in Scarborough
A tree has come down in the Columbus valley on the A165.
14:10 – Fallen tree reported in Columbus Valley Scarborough
Listener Edward reports that he lowered a tree into a ravine on the A165 Columbus in Scarborough.
14:00 – Whitby fishing boat seeks refuge in Peterhead
Peterhead Live posted photos of two Whitby fishing boats seeking refuge in Peterhead Harbour.
13:55 – Wind guests reach approximately 70mph
Wind gusts of 65mph were recorded in Firingdale in the last hour.
13:50 – Met the office where Ireland said it had seen record wind gusts
Satellite images suggest a stinging jet that developed early this morning. This brought wind gusts of 114 mph to Macehead – tentatively the strongest wind gust ever recorded in Ireland

A fallen tree was reported on Castle Road on the outskirts of Malton

Callers to this report a fallen tree on the A1039 near Muston to the coast, partially blocking the road
10:39 – Filey Shop Sign is now secure
Filey firefighters used a triple exterior ladder and small tools to secure a large heavy shop sign that was at risk of falling due to high winds. Crews secured the sign and advised those in charge.
09:45 – Train service from Whitby canceled
11:59am Whitby to Hexham service canceled due to storm
09:30 – Humber Bridge closed to high-sided and vulnerable vehicles
The A15 connects East Yorkshire with northern Lincolnshire over the Humber Bridge
09:15 – Transpennine Express service from Scarborough to Manchester ending in York
From Scarborough to Manchester Victoria at 9:54am and 10:54am ending in York. 12:54 PM Service ends in Leeds. There is limited service from York due to the storm.
08:55 – Strong winds close roads around the area
A66 is closed to all vehicles. The A19 TEES flyover is closed to high-side and vulnerable vehicles in both directions, as is the M62 Ouse Bridge.
08:15 – Further train cancellations due to bad weather

06:00 – Northern train cancellation
6.45am Bridlington to Hull service canceled, 7.05am Bridlington to Hull service. Also canceled are the 7:55 Bridlington to York Train and 8:39am Bridlington to Sheffield and Bridlington to Hull services.
06:00 – Amber Weather Warning now in force
Valid from 6am to 9pm tonight: Storm Ewin will move across the north-west of England on Friday before clearing to the north-east on Friday night. This will bring a spell of very strong west to southwest winds with peak gusts of 60-70 mph, 70-80 mph in some areas, and spells of 80-90 mph along exposed coasts and hills. (probably even higher in some places). It should be noted that wind strength may decrease slightly for some time as the center of the storm passes overhead. Winds will gradually ease later Friday.
