The White Ribbon charity works to prevent violence against women and girls by encouraging 'positive alliances' between men and boys.
York-based LNER is working on a three-year plan to educate, influence and change behavior within its workforce and “the broader community”, a spokesperson said.
LNER employees are encouraged to become White Ribbon ambassadors and champions to spread the charity's message about the power of men's alliances to end violence and promote a more equal society.
To commemorate this recognition, LNER has named one of its York to London King's Cross services 'White Ribbon'.
Warwick Dent, Head of Strategy at White Ribbon and Head of Safety and Operations at LNER, said: “The safety of the people who travel with us and work for us is of paramount importance.
“Everyone’s welfare is key and keeping them safe is our priority.
“By becoming White Ribbon certified, we are committed to our campaign by being role models to our colleagues and encouraging allies to spread the message to bring about positive change both in the workplace and wider society. We will add our voices.”
Anthea Salley, CEO of White Ribbon UK, said: “By raising employee awareness, people learn how to be collaborators and call out violent or abusive behavior when they see it. I can do that.''
