Though it has not always been smooth sailing this season, Malton's second team is a bright spark, winning one of 25 games in 21 games.
Malton launched a lawsuit but had to be wary to stop Pocklington due to early pressure. However, the solid tackle keeps the doors closed tightly, showing the 80-minute themed advantage of the visitors' tight five.
When Malton took the lead in the 10th minute, it paid a dividend and their fullback split the dug outside and Paul Angus shattered the ball to follow up and open the score.
And it appeared they scored their second try after eight minutes. One of the turnbulls in the back row took the ball to the line and Pocklington spitted a penalty, but the hosts were able to clear two phases after the resulting scrum.
Malton lost Prop Dan Coe to his back – Rob Featherstone was introduced in his place, but continued the momentum of their advance.
Another penalty scrum was chosen in the 22nd minute, with a pickup and a simple pass that made Charlie Tindall run with ease to take over the score 12-0.
Wind blew through the sails and Malton added three more points from the penalty shortly after play resumed after a disruption in Pocklington's midfield attempt to escape defense.
However, the host surrendered himself to the scoreboard on a halftime beckoning. Half of their fly was given a quick ball from the lineout tail, caught the defense off guard and ran easily into a whitewash, reducing the gap to 15-7 on a break.
Malton came out well in the second half and quickly extended the lead after Pocklington put pressure on a wild faucet over the line from kick to corner. Veteran prop Edd Gwilliam and his crew prepared themselves, and from the resulting scrum, Henry Cornforce moved his way.
The host refused to lie down and after the scrambled possessions took them to the Malton Line they were only rejected on the forward pass.
After a 10-minute defensive obligation, Rufus Pegram and Bill Collier were well combined into the right flank as Malton tried to advance, but the tackle flipped their 20-meter possessions.
They ended with their final prosperity.
72-minute hooker Harry Arungoro bursts and a pinpoint pass puts Angus for his brace, and he pays back the compliment and gives Arungofro.
To Pocklington's credit, they kept their heads up until the final whirl, still attacking occasionally, but were unable to break through Malton's defense for another comfort score.
It was a great all-around display from Malton, and Josh Raines deserved to take the man to Man.
