The Heworth restaurant closed in February this year and has since moved to Barton Stone Lane, but the new restaurant and takeaway was awarded five stars following a recent York City Council inspection.
The restaurant serves a variety of tandoori dishes, curries, chef's specialties and Asian kebabs. The menu also has a meal price of £35 for in-restaurant meals and takeaways.
The business, run by Naz Rahman, is the successor to the former Royal Spice, which opened in February last year in the former Clifton Spice and Grill restaurant on the corner of Horner Street and Barton Stone Lane in Clifton. It becomes a store.
Clifton Spice and Grill opened in September 2020, replacing Voujon Spice, which was born out of a former greengrocer.
Now owner Rahman says he is proud of the test results.
“This achievement is a testament to our continued commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety for our valued customers,” he said.
“I would like to express our sincere gratitude to our dedicated team and family for their hard work and to our loyal customers for their continued support.
“Celebrate with us as you enjoy your favorite dishes prepared in a first-class environment. We look forward to serving you delicious Indian cuisine and Asian-inspired kebabs.”
Both the restaurant and takeaway are open seven days a week from 4:30pm to 10:45pm, and are closed on Tuesdays unless by prior arrangement.
Rahman said he is already planning to open on Christmas Day this year with a set menu.
