The Met Office has issued five weather warnings for the UK, with the threat of severe weather and strong winds within the next few hours.
National weather forecasters have issued warnings for the East Midlands, Yorkshire and the Humber, North West England, North East England, Dumfries, Galloway, Lothians and the Borders.
It will run for 11 hours from 3 a.m. on Wednesday to 2 p.m. on the same day.
A Met Office warning said: “Westerly to southwesterly winds will be particularly gusty over the hills and east/northeast late Tuesday night into Wednesday.”
“Wind gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour are possible in some areas, and higher in more exposed areas.
“This can create difficult driving conditions, especially at high altitudes and on north-south routes.”
It also warned that some bus and train services “may be affected” and that some journeys may be disrupted.
On the other hand, “high-side vehicle delays” can occur, especially on exposed routes and bridges.
The Japan Meteorological Agency warned that “road, rail and air transport will be delayed.”
