North Yorkshire Police officers noticed the incident, an early morning (Sunday) at the A168, a road running along A1(m).
I recommend reading:
A unit spokesperson said: “Police earlier this morning got into difficult situations when around 80-90 members of the travel community attended the A168 outside Rainton and conducted illegal traps and pony races.
“The actions of those involved put both themselves and other road users a significant risk as the race was directed towards oncoming vehicles.”
Police were unable to stop the race completely, but they got enough evidence to indict those involved with many driving charges.
They added:
“A further conviction of other drivers involved will continue in time.
“If I were involved in this incident at the time, I would appreciate your patience and understanding.”
