As reported by the Press, York-based responding police officer PC Rosie Prior, 45, stopped on the A19 to help a motorist after the collision on Saturday morning (January 11). Ta. Shortly after the stop, Ryan Welford, 41, of Prior PCR and Knaresborough, who was off-duty at the time, was struck and killed by the truck.
A teenage boy was also taken to hospital in critical but stable condition in the incident near Bagby, near Shirsk.

At 10am today (Monday 13th January) North Yorkshire Police held a service at Memory PC Prior at Police Headquarters in Northallerton.

PC Prior's family said she was a “loving mother, wife, daughter, sister and aunt” who would “be sorely missed”.
The road reopened around 7:20pm on Saturday after two cars and a truck were recovered and debris removed.
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and motorists with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
The driver of the truck, a 65-year-old man from Berwick upon Tweed, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was investigated and released.
