Yellow snow and ice warnings are placed in the county north of York from 6am to 2pm tomorrow (Saturday, February 15th).
Snow and frozen rain is possible in the highlands, freezing rain is possible, and people are told to expect a mess of travel.
Freezing rain, a rare phenomenon in the UK, forms when supercooled raindrops freeze in contact with cold surfaces, creating layers of ice, according to the Met Office.
Snow is expected to freeze from 2c tomorrow as temperatures freeze from 2c.
Meanwhile, in York, snow is not predicted, but temperatures are expected to remain cold at 2c. It's raining tomorrow.
Sunday is set to warm as temperatures in York and North Yorkshire rise from 2c to 4c.
Met Office Meteorologist Matthew Lehnert said:
“It is possible to 2-5 centimeters in the Shiviot and North York marshlands, and we could see localized accumulation at a lower level.”
