This week, senior representatives from both organizations met at NYMR's Power Depot (MPD) in Grossmont to receive, among other things, training and donations of equipment from the organizations' members to support NYMR's continued efforts in preservation and engineering. Identified potential cooperation opportunities.
ECITB is a government-supported body supporting training and skills development in engineering and construction, working closely with organizations and members to fund a range of training initiatives.
Yvonne Day, Head of Human Resources at NYMR, said: “Having worked with ECITB for nearly 30 years in previous roles, I know first-hand that ECITB can have a huge impact on the development of engineering skills. We look forward to exploring how this will benefit our team and help us continue our efforts to preserve our rich railway heritage.”
Alan Neil, ECITB Regional Operations Manager (Northern), added: From there, we can use our connections in engineering and construction to support all the great things the railroad is doing. ”
Mark Ray, ECITB's North East Relationship Manager, said: “NYMR is truly a hidden gem and we will be working to inform companies in the engineering construction industry about the work being done here.” Ta. It would be ideal if some of our companies could visit and see the railway first hand and support its aims and objectives. Going forward, we'll be promoting links to facilitate this, which is a really exciting step. ”
This partnership is consistent with NYMR's broader strategy to ensure the long-term sustainability of the railway and its mechanical operations through collaboration and innovation.
