The Goathland Station Weighbridge Office Restoration Project and the Goathland Railway Motor Shed Restoration Project were both recognized in the Network Rail Volunteer Award category.
NYMR Managing Director Kerry Carruthers said: “We are particularly grateful for the funding support from North York Moors National Park, provided through S106 funding from Woodsmith Polyhalite Mine, which has enabled us to improve the “We were able to repair the hut.”
“We would also like to thank the individuals who donated directly to Goathland Station for the restoration of the Weighbridge Office, and the Northallerton Community Group for funding the lighting for this project.”
The Weybridge Offices at Goathland Station is set in the same landscape as Hogsmeade Station in the first Harry Potter film and has been restored to reflect its original appearance.
Restoration of the railroad motor shed included stabilizing the foundation, repairing eroded corrugated sheets, and repainting the structure.
