Councilors on Leeds City Council's North and East Planning Committee have unanimously voted in favor of plans to build 528 new homes as part of the Leeds East extension.
More than 500 homes will be built by housebuilder Persimmon at Morwick Green, which is located on the new East Leeds Circular Route (ELOR).
This is the next stage of the 575-acre East Leeds expansion, which stretches around the edges of Red Hall, Swarcliffe, Wynmoor and Crossgates.
One of the region's largest infrastructure projects, up to 5,000 homes will be built, including the Persimmons Morwick Green and Wellington Mt developments, where homes are already for sale.
A mix of one- to four-bedroom homes and one- and two-bedroom apartments will be offered to accommodate first-time buyers, families, and downsizers.
ELOR is a £120m infrastructure project due for completion in 2022 and is partially funded by contributions from developers, including nearly £20m from Persimmon .
The Morwick Green grounds also include over 6.4 hectares of open space, including formal gardens, natural areas and eight fully equipped play areas.
James Parkin, Head of Land at Persimmon West Yorkshire, said: “The East Leeds extension is a truly exciting project and we are proud to be working with the council to provide much-needed new homes for local people.
“The next phase of Morwick Green will provide local homebuyers with a wide range of high quality new homes surrounded by green open space.
“The great connections provided by the new ELOR will make these new developments truly great places to live for homebuyers of all ages and types.”
