Residents were a bit surprised when five police vehicles arrived yesterday (Sunday) as Bel Basque near the cold in Coniston is not considered a police nest.
Police had received reports from the barn that an attempted robbery of an old motorcycle was ongoing.
Residents said three police vans, police cars and 4×4 vehicles all appeared around 4:30pm before officers headed off along the sidewalk to Airton, which contains many old vehicles, machinery and other items.
A resident who wants to not name it said, “It's so rare to see one police vehicle in the Bel Basque, let alone five people, so I wonder what's going on.”
A North Yorkshire police spokesman said: Two suspects reportedly tried to take an old bike from the barn.
“On arrival, we arrested two teenagers, ages 15 and 17. A police investigation will begin and we will be asked in time.”
