Specially trained officers are talking to members of the public at Dancom Place near Yorkminster and in Sparil Gate as part of a project service launched in North Yorkshire seven years ago or as part of “unpredictable policing.”
I recommend reading:
A police spokesperson said, “Project Surveyors provide encouraging presence to the public, whilst being a policing tactic aimed at disrupting a variety of criminal activities, including terrorism.
“Working together, teams will appear in very visible and unpredictable areas of development. Don't be surprised or wary if you see them or not expect them.
“As part of their activities, they speak to public and local businesses who remind them that they are vigilant and reporting, suspicious or unusual behavior.
“You play an important role in supporting police by reporting unmanned items or people acting suspiciously, or call local police on 101. For example, if you find a suspicious package, always call 999.”
