Hudson, 24, joins the Knights from Betfred Super League side Castleford Tigers, the club he rejoined after being released by Leeds Rhinos at the end of the last campaign.
The prop actually started his career in football, earning a contract with former Premier League side Sunderland while playing as a goalkeeper.
He switched to rugby league and began playing for Newcastle Thunder and Whitehaven before moving into Castleford's full-time environment in 2022.
After joining Castleford, Hudson returned to Whitehaven on a season-long loan, but an Achilles injury ruled him out until 2023.
The 24-year-old then joined Leeds Rhinos, where his grandfather and Leeds legend John Holmes once played, in 2024.
Hudson primarily plays in the Rhinos' reserves and appeared once in the Betfred Championship with the Halifax Panthers on dual registration last season.
York head coach Mark Applegarth said he was “delighted” to welcome Hudson to the Knights, adding: “I'm really happy to have Kieran on board.”
“I know he's a player that Clint (Goodchild) has been following for a long time.
“I first saw Kieran when he was at Leeds. He's definitely an influence and I'm looking forward to working with him.”
