I recently visited the museum and saw what I think is one of the best museums in Yorkshire decorated gorgeously for Christmas.
We spoke with other visitors who loved the exhibits, classic toys, and community areas. The centerpiece is a replica of a Victorian streetscape that shows what our country's past looked like.
I spoke to staff members who were devastated about the proposal.
A public consultation is currently taking place and I am proposing to save the museum and line the council's pockets. The Mayor of Leeds' unique 1903 U1 number plate is to be auctioned to raise funds for the council. He is set to earn £500,000.
Perhaps a group of local businesses could increase that amount and set aside a £160,000 allowance to fund proposed job cuts for the closure of Abbey House Museum.
This museum must remain open. We offer West Yorkshire's cultural attractions, promote tourism, host events for schools and community groups and help make it a great day out for families.
