And who will pay for the city center redesign? Amid a cost of living crisis and a gaping hole in the UK's finances, Bradford's council tax earners are paying for city center roadworks. I hope not.
Bradford bus passengers are extremely angry at the significant disruption to bus services, particularly as the interchange has been closed since January. As a bus passenger myself, aged 65 and with mobility issues, I find the roadworks and massive disruption to the city center caused by Bradford City Council extremely difficult and unnecessary. I felt it.
When my bus (number 636 from Clayton) arrives in the city center, I have to walk about a quarter-mile to Broadway, which is quite difficult and takes me past major roadworks. Before Bradford City Council decided to turn the city center into a huge roadworks project, the 636 only stopped outside the tourist information center and was a short walk to Broadway. It is now 400 meters away on foot after the city council's decision to relocate the entire city centre. Very difficult, unnecessary, and weird.
I really hope the new bus stop is located just off Broadway, taking into account the bus passengers and city tax payers, and taking into account disabled seniors like me.
