Reader's letter: Labor is even more anti-working class than Thatcher

Before I turned 40, I was made redundant and signed for the 'dollars' (at the time £28 a week!).

Now 80 years old and a grandfather of two, I believe that today's Labor Party is ten times more anti-working class than Mrs Thatcher was.

It's a “budget”!

Strict tax increases for companies?

These endanger not only wage increases but also jobs.

So-called economic expansion is a mere illusion in post-industrial societies, hampered by high taxes, high energy costs, and even the nightmare of net-zero carbon emissions.

Our Labor Party has sacrificed OAPs time and time again, including through means testing on the Winter Fuel Allowance.

However, such standards did not apply to the “Prime Minister”, who enjoyed four different “houses”. That means there are also two elegant taxpayer-funded 'houses' in Downing Street and Dorney Wood, the country capital. (a constituency home whose bills are paid by expenses) – plus Rachel Reeves' own London “family” home, which is currently rented out for commercial purposes.

He once laughed and despised Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott for owning two Jaguars.

Also, will there be pay rises for junior doctors (22%), train drivers (15%) and Home Office staff (9%) to beat inflation, as well as a 6.7% increase in the minimum wage?

OAP only gets 4.1 percent, which is subject to taxes (and so on).

Since 2010, my wife and I have gradually been better off in retirement under the Conservative government, but today we have regressed financially under the Labor government.
