The shock has been revealed as an acronym for the beloved gravy brand
Many people appeared on the page and were shocked by the news that Bisto is not just a brand name but an acronym.
“This isn't true.”
“I'm 71 and this is the first thing I've heard,” another said. She didn't know this either and was very surprised. ”
The third joke said, “Yeah, everyone else knew this, but we all came together and decided not to tell you.”
However, some were not convinced, and labeled Visto as “background.”
What is the background?
The Cambridge Dictionary defines background as “an existing word, phrase, or abbreviation that has become an acronym.”
It is also known as the “reverse acronym.”
Examples are babies' “Apgar” scores rated by a medical professional at 1 and 5 minutes after birth.
Apgar scores are a measure of the newborn's physical condition and how well they are suitable for living outside the uterus.
It now represents “pulse, frown, activity, breathing,” but originally named after creator Virginia Apgar.
Other backgrounds are not intended to represent anything, but also phrases given by the words that were subsequently attached.
