The latest plans for 240 new homes on the site of the old Barbican swimming pool in York have been submitted by house builder persimmon.
The proposal is currently being verified by York City Council. This means that public consultations could progress.
240 apartments will be delivered to the premises at 53, where 53 is transferred to a registered residential provider.
The site consists of two plots of land, consisting of Staycity Apartotel, which is east of the Barbican and consists of approximately 2.14 acres, and a small plot that occupys southwest of the Barbican Centre and about 0.12 acres.
The larger site building is not higher than the existing StayCity Aparthotel.
The small site plans to build 12 apartments with space on the first floor for use by the community. The operator and exact use of this space will be shaped by separate public consultations.
A spokesman for Persimmon Yorkshire said:
“We have worked extensively with councils, architects and engineers over the past two years, and have planned the right place for this place.
“The public can now comment on the plan through the Council's Planning Public Access Portal.
“The consultation website will also be launched in the coming weeks, and more details about this will be announced soon.”
